Edwin Birdsong's self-titled album was released in 1978 on Philadelphia International Records at the height of the disco craze. At that time, Edwin was a key player at PIR and a talented songwriter and producer. Birdsong's vision hits the mark as the album features several gems that have become dance floor classics, particularly in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. "Cola Bottle Baby," "Kunta Dance," and "Goldmine" are all striking funk gems that kick off strong and are ready to party. Daft Punk sampled the hit song "Cola Bottle Baby" in "Stronger, Better, Faster." The sexy "Lollipop" is ahead of its time, and the irresistible "Freaky Deaky Sities" and "Phiss-Phizz" both became huge club hits, even though they did not chart on Billboard.
