An End Has a Start

EDITORS return with *An End Has A Start*, their second album. While *The Back Room* radiated with claustrophobic menace and icy grandeur, *An End Has A Start* sees TOM SMITH focusing more on the power of redemption and the need for friendship and family in the face of death. The album's lyrics are intimately linked to real events, as Tom explains: "There's a lot of death on this record; it might sound morbid, but it's true. Death has touched my life and the lives of friends several times. We all realized that everything has an end and that it was important to make something both glorious and terrifying out of it." This rich and powerful album concludes with a very simple piano/guitar track, 'Well Worn Hand'. Recorded in one take, with Tom and Chris playing live in the studio, this track offers a new perspective for EDITORS. This sense of experimentation also led them to have close friends sing backing vocals for 'Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors', the first single from this album.
