Behind the pseudonym East India Youth is William Doyle, a 24-year-old Brit and a prolific young hope of the electronic scene across the Channel. After a particularly busy 2014 with the release of his debut album Total Strife Forever, followed by a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize, which rewards the best British or Irish album of the year, and a long tour opening for These New Puritans in particular, the young man continues on his momentum with Culture of Volume and confirms all the talent he was credited with. Recorded and produced largely at home in London and mixed by Graham Sutton, this new opus sees East India Youth continue his electronic explorations but with much more pop accents than on its predecessor. And the magic of the album lies precisely in this incredible ease with which the young man brings together influences as diverse and varied as Kraftwerk, Scott Walker, Brian Eno or even David Bowie in 10 fabulous tracks.
