Description

Drummer Earl Palmer was one of the most important and prolific session musicians of all time. In 2000, he was among the first session musicians inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Upon his death in 2008, an obituary noted: "His list of collaborations reads like a social register of American popular music over the last 60 years." This compilation closely examines Palmer's studio work between 1949 and 1962, focusing on the hits he contributed to during this period. His early sessions in New Orleans include collaborations with Fats Domino, Lloyd Price, Shirley & Lee, Smiley Lewis, Little Richard, etc. His later sessions on the American West Coast, with the Wrecking Crew, include tracks by Ricky Nelson, Bobby Day, Ritchie Valens, Eddie Cochran, Bobby Darin, Gene McDaniels, Sam Cooke, Timi Yuro, etc.
