Australian punk band dust is set to release their debut album, Sky is Falling, on November 15, 2025, via Kanine Records. Comprised of Kye Cherry on drums, Liam Smith on bass, Adam Ridgway on saxophone, and vocalists/guitarists Justin Teale and Gabriel Stove, the quartet cultivates a sound that is both visceral and confronting, blending raw instrumentals with melancholic soundscapes to create a unique musical identity. Their debut EP, et cetera, etc., released in early 2023, already captured a raw and spontaneous fragment of their evolution, paving the way for sold-out shows across Australia and notable appearances at the Laneway, Pitchfork, and London Calling festivals. In late 2023, dust solidified their live presence by supporting Interpol and Bloc Party on an Australian tour, also sharing the stage with shoegaze pioneers Slowdive in Sydney and Protomartyr in Antwerp. Their intense performances earned them a new invitation to support Interpol on the 20th anniversary of Antics at some of the UK and Europe’s most prestigious venues. In 2024, the band began to reshape their sound, incorporating free-jazz inflections and reverb-drenched guitars, leaning towards shoegaze and experimental sounds. Sky is Falling continues this evolution, consolidating a style resolutely focused on reinvention and genre transgression. Between shoegaze, electronic experimentation, saxophone arrangements, and abrasive guitars, their music remains deeply rooted in melancholy and introspection. With an anarchic energy reminiscent of Geese at Double Virgo, while paying homage to classics like Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, dust offers a debut album that is both radical and lyrical.
