Money Jungle
Description
The recording studio rented by United Artists at Sound Makers Studios, on 57th Street in Manhattan, is not exactly a jungle. But on this Monday afternoon, September 17, 1962, it is a complete madhouse. Which is spilling into the hallways, the building's elevators, and even onto the sidewalk outside. Amidst the passersby, Edward Kennedy Ellington is trying to chase after Charles Mingus Junior. The latter has packed up his double bass and taken flight. From a window, Alan Douglas, the session's producer, observes the scene; one can guess that he is not entirely enjoying its picturesque nature....
