Drive-By Truckers are among the most original groups on the current music scene, both on record and on stage. Their lyrics, marked by a unique singularity, evoke people, places, and situations, which has allowed them to win over an international audience. Their album is enriched with new elements: the first appearance of the talented bassist Shonna Tucker on vocals and songwriting, the integration of longtime collaborator John Neff as a full-fledged member of the band (on pedal steel and guitar), and the participation of legendary Muscle Shoals keyboardist Spooner Oldham. Founding members Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley deliver some of the most accomplished compositions and performances of their career. The result is an inspired album, a veritable goldmine of 19 tracks: "Brighter Than Creation's Dark," a concentrated essence of the DBT spirit, exploring a multitude of musical genres.
