Under the pseudonym of DRIFT, with its multiple resonances, AT THE PARTY is an album by one of the most renowned and sought-after French sound engineers and producers in the world for the past three decades: Renaud Letang. Manu Chao, Chilly Gonzales, Feist, Mathieu Boogaerts, Lianne La Havas, Philippe Katerine, Saul Williams, Jane Birkin, Seu Jorge, Micky Green, Connan Mockasin, and Amadou & Mariam have regularly called upon him, to the point of sometimes not being able to do without this producer with golden hands and a rare ear. For years, Renaud Letang, a Victoires de la Musique award winner and Grammy Awards nominee, has been secretly preparing an album project with all his artist friends in his lair in the basement of Studios Ferber. His Canadian accomplice Chilly Gonzales, with whom he formed the successful production duo VV in the 2000s, encouraged him to release the songs he composes in the dark between recording or mixing sessions. Renaud Letang approaches his compositions as "drift music," with a wide stylistic palette – from sunny disco pop (At the Party, Working on Me) to naive jazz (Papaya, A Night in Waimea), from futuristic hip hop (Cosmic Drift, That’s All) to dreamlike soundscapes (Très Gentiment In Waimea). The word DRIFT, the alias with multiple meanings chosen by Renaud Letang, precisely describes this perpetual movement that wonderfully overflows into this collaborative album, open to all vocal pairings: Feist, Chilly Gonzales, Connan Mockasin, Benny Sings, Philippe Katerine, Jamie Lidell, Saul Williams, Infinite Bisous, Jerry Paper, Chuuwee, Mel D and Vladimir Cosma are featured in the credits of At the Party.
