OUTTA SYNC

Description

Considered the fifth member of The Clash, he also worked with Bob Marley, managed The Slits, and blended genres within Big Audio Dynamite: Don Letts seems to have done it all. But there was one thing he hadn't done yet... until now: a solo album. It's an intoxicating cocktail of dub rhythms, Jamaican music, and spoken word, all delivered with his soft, melodic voice. "Outta Sync" is exactly what you'd expect from an artist of Don Letts' calibre. The irony is that Letts didn't really intend to make his own music. But his old friend, extraordinary producer, dub enthusiast, and Killing Joke bassist, Youth, encouraged and pushed him to try, even sending him bass lines to compose from. The duo ended up working together for nine months. The result lives up to expectations. Guest artists include Terry Hall (The Specials, Fun Boy Three…) who appears on two tracks, and the final track is sung by Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips. They are also joined by Hollie Cook (The Slits) and Zoe Devlin Love, as well as Honor Letts, Letts' youngest daughter. A renowned musician, DJ, director, and videographer, Don Letts finally offers us a solo album, filled with the richness of an accomplished artist.
