Before signing this album with LEAF LABEL, Domenique Dumont had already released two popular albums on the French label Antinote, Comme Co (2015) and Miniatures De Auto Rhythm (2018). This album is a new soundtrack for the classic German silent film released in 1930, known by various names: Menschen am Sonntag, Les Hommes le Dimanche, and People on Sunday. Domenique Dumont was invited to compose the score for a special screening and live performance at the Festival des Arcs in the Alps in December 2019. Although designed as a soundtrack, "People on Sunday" is perfectly suited to the album format. While his past productions had a certain Mediterranean aura, the 13 tracks of this album evoke Dumont's more shimmering synth-pop through enchanting simplicity.
