Doctor Fluorescent

Description

Doctor Fluorescent's debut album transports us into his world of alluring electronic pop. Things are often more complex than they seem at first glance: beneath the dreamy, floating surface, seductive and sophisticated musical mechanics are at work. Doctor Fluorescent is first and foremost a scientist and researcher, but he also plays various instruments and uses electronic gadgets to bring his ideas to life. He is assisted by musicians Scott Gilmore and Eddie Ruscha, who simply carry out the Doctor's orders: plug in a cable here, turn a dial there, in short, do their best to satisfy their boss's wishes. When they started making music with Doctor Fluorescent, they engaged in all sorts of experiments, without worrying about the results. Their explorations gradually took the form of songs, narrative threads appeared, and the Doctor's true voice began to emerge (to be completely honest, it should be noted that the Doctor was born in the minds of Scott and Eddie, but quickly transformed into a person in his own right). Doctor Fluorescent's music can be likened to a test pressing of an unreleased album of electronic explorations, discovered among a pile of old records by Supersempft, Roger Powell, and Wally Badarou. The album travels through a wide sound spectrum; it is experimental in many ways, while adopting pop and melodic structures. Scott and Eddie have each made albums using old synthesizers and vintage drum machines, which makes them perfect collaborators, capable of bringing Doctor Fluorescent's musical visions to life. "Retro-futuristic synth-pop, both funky, percussive and chill... subtly evokes Herbie Hancock's Rockit, Holy Ghost, Return to Forever and post-J Dilla beatmakers." --- The Joy of Violent Movement, US ---
