Djangology

Description

Django Reinhardt, a jazz guitarist of Belgian origin, is considered one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. He was the first jazz talent to emerge from Europe and remains the most important. Along with violinist Stéphane Grappelli, Reinhardt founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France in Paris in 1934, one of the first groups to play jazz with the guitar as the main instrument. This album presents the entirety of the original Djangology record, compiled in 1961 (less than a decade after Django's premature death in 1953 at the age of 43). The album features music from 1949 that brings together Reinhardt and Grappelli in Rome, as well as a local rhythm section. Twelve tracks from the same dates have been added here as a bonus. Included: 16-page booklet with rare photos.
