Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, the Danish alternative and progressive rock band formed in 1988, is back. Tim Christensen (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Martin Nielsen (bass guitar) and Soren Friis (drums) enjoyed huge success in Denmark and Japan between 1994 and 1997, as the spearhead of the rock revival in Denmark in the early 90s. Christensen himself explained the reasons for the band’s success: “Dizzy’s albums were a stripped-down version of what was happening in Seattle, two years late, which was therefore perfect for Denmark” in reference to the grunge movement. After splitting up in 1998, the band reunited in 2010 for a six-month tour in Denmark and Japan before splitting up again. At the end of 2014, they reunited once more and announced a new tour as well as a third studio album called “Forward in Reverse,” released on April 29, 2016 in Denmark. The album then caused a stir, since the band had not released anything for 20 years. Tim Christensen explains that although the band had been more influenced by grunge before, for this new album it was bands like Megadeth and Slayer that inspired him. Thematically, the songs are more outspoken and revolve around the singer’s observations of contemporary society. The lyrics deal, among other things, with the way the internet is both a gift and a curse, invading our private sphere.
