Forward In Reverse

Description

Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, a Danish alternative and progressive rock band formed in 1988, is back. Tim Christensen (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Martin Nielsen (bass guitar), and Søren Friis (drums) enjoyed enormous success in Denmark and Japan between 1994 and 1997, spearheading the rock revival in Denmark in the early 90s. Christensen himself explained the reasons for the band's success: "Dizzy's albums were a watered-down version of what was happening in Seattle, two years late, which was perfect for Denmark," referring to the grunge movement. After breaking up in 1998, the band reunited in 2010 for a six-month tour in Denmark and Japan before splitting up again. In late 2014, they reunited once more and announced a new tour as well as a third studio album called "Forward in Reverse," released on April 29, 2016, in Denmark. This album caused a stir, as the band hadn't released anything in 20 years. Tim Christensen explains that while the band was previously more influenced by grunge, for this new album, bands like Megadeth and Slayer were their inspiration. Thematically, the songs are more defiant and revolve around the singer's observations on contemporary society. The lyrics deal, among other things, with how the internet is both a gift and a curse, invading our private sphere.
