A genius of improvisation, the virtuoso trumpeter recorded the essence of this Dizzy on the French Riviera in the summer of 1962, during the Antibes Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festival. Here, we find all his influence on the music of that time, particularly his major role in introducing Latin American rhythms through the Afro-Cuban movement of the late 1940s. He also extensively collaborates here with bossa nova, which serves as the rhythmic foundation for almost all the tracks on the album. The result is a fresh and joyful work, like an invitation to dance, and it is savored like a sunset over the sea. Excerpt from the ideal Fnac discography 2017.
