With the MPS label, post-war musical history was written in Germany: noble music productions featuring many international greats came from the Black Forest and are legendary and timeless. The MPS group archives still hold unreleased treasures, some of which are now being released in the HGBSBlue label's vinyl edition.
This includes the LP "Mother Africa" with the Dizzy Gillespie Reunion Band, which marked the highlight of the Berlin Jazz Days in 1968. A portion of this concert has never been released before and has just come out on LP - not as a musical relic, but as a splendid addition to the old MPS tracks.
Dizzy Gillespie, the jazz legend, founded his first big band in 1946, and the "Reunion" band includes some musicians from that era, including James Moody and Sahib Shihab. The album features "Manteca," the classic Cuban Bob dance track, as well as "Ray's Idea," with sharp brass sections. A moving album, with a sumptuous embossed cover and premium pressing. A vinyl treasure, in the tradition of legendary MPS Music. A must-have for lovers of good vinyl releases!
