Dina Ögon is like a bumblebee: big and fluffy, it would be impossible for it to fly, and yet it does, with disconcerting simplicity. Anna Ahnlund, Christopher Cantillo, Daniel Ögren, and Love Örsan have participated in a multitude of projects, recordings, and tours in the realms of rock, jazz, soul, and Swedish pop, among others, all in the greatest secrecy. For over a decade, they have played together in different formations, supported each other, and collaborated with many other artists in one way or another. But today, they form an even more remarkable quartet than all the projects they have participated in so far. Yet, this album is simply excellent. Oas bubbles in a rare way, never exploding. Its cohesion rests on their curiosity: they explore a multitude of musical territories without ever getting lost, and their virtuosic playing cements the whole. Dina Ögon draws its inspiration from black music and pop, but without pretension, just an incredibly enriching listening experience.
