Bureau B once again delves into the Sky archives and unearths another overlooked masterpiece, long overdue for rediscovery. Originally released in 1985, "Voyage" sees Dieter Schütz venturing beyond his Berlin School roots into a world of lo-fi immediacy and New Age naivety. Schütz plays every instrument himself, except for the drums on "Above," performed with syncopated fervor by Michael Fecker.While his textured synth landscapes and melancholic melodies evoke the Vaporwave aesthetic of the 2010s, "Voyage" captures a longing for another world, not through borrowed nostalgia but through a contemporary vision of escape. Here, Schütz's music is lush yet unpretentious, full of warmth, curiosity, and the subtle imperfections of handmade sound, his blend of organic and synthetic instruments merging to evoke distant landscapes: Amazonian forests, sun-drenched coasts, and cosmic night skies.
