Sur le disque précédent, c'est Johnny Mandel qui pilotait quelques arrangements pour cordes du plus suave effet. Cette fois, c'est Claus Ogerman (maître d'oeuvre de "Symbiosis" de Bill Evans en 1971, et quelques années plus tard du très brillant "Cityscape" de Michael Brecker) qui signe orchestrations et direction. La voix, le phrasé, les inflexions sensuelles, tout concourt à procurer ce frisson cher aux amateurs de jazz vocal. Quelques grands standards ("S'Wonderful", "I Remember You", "Cry Me A River"...), et des chansons plus rares ("I Get Along Without You Very Well", de Hoagy Carmichael) : bref, tout ce qui sied à un moment de bonheur.
