Sam Genders reinvents himself with his solo project while retaining the best of his collaboration with TUNNG. DIAGRAMS is the solo project of Sam Genders, the co-founder of the British electro-folk collective TUNNG. Sam took part in TUNNG’s first three albums and wrote, among others, their track “Bullets” before leaving the band in 2008 to follow his own path. DIAGRAMS was born in 2011 with the release of his first EP, followed in 2012 by his debut album Black Light, released on the English label Full Time Hobby. With DIAGRAMS, we find the innovative and imaginative aspect characteristic of TUNNG, but in another form: this time it is a minimalist and lively pop that sparkles with electronic effects, synthetic bass, and subtle grooves, evocative of the pop of Arthur Russell, Metronomy, Hot Chip, Steve Mason and Peter Gabriel. Genders offers a more playful and eclectic writing style, while retaining the impressionistic and lyrical imagination that made him famous.
