Description

The master of the Oud, vocalist and composer Dhafer Youssef shapes music that brings together the East and the West. Through his spirituality and mysticism, his music is imbued with Sufism, of which he carries the legacy. Born on November 19, 1967, in the Tunisian fishing village of Teboulba. He grew up in a modest family, descended from a long line of muezzins. Mastery of vocal potentials is a family heritage and tradition.
The theme of this new album is primarily that of travel. "After traveling to the four corners of the world in search of new sounds, I sing here differently and use vocal effects with which I grew up. Notably the sound effect of megaphones for the call to prayer - hence the title of the record 'Street of Minarets'. The other guests also took part in this magical journey" (Dhafer Youssef).
