After recording countless songs last fall in Nashville, THE DEVIL MAKES THREE meticulously selected twelve of them to form *Redemption & Ruin*. A good portion of this album features gospel-infused songs with a penchant for dark sounds, placed simultaneously under the spectrum of religious music ("Redemption") and tending to sound like post-apocalyptic and destructive music ("Ruin"). Initially, Pete Bernhard, Lucia Turino, and Cooper McBean, convinced that there could be no in-between, sought to write songs that were in one or the other of these two styles of music.
