Essential Artist Collection - Desmond Dekker

Description

A founding artist of Reggae, Desmond Dekker brought the sound of Jamaica to the whole world thanks to a series of international hits, with his music appearing in the British charts no fewer than seven times between 1967 and 1975 with the hits "007", "It Mek", "Pickney Gal", "You Can Get It If You Really Want", "Sing A Little Song" and the first recording produced in Jamaica to reach number one on the British 7" singles chart, "Israelites". All of these essential recordings appear on the 'Essential Artist Collection', which also includes the best of his remaining work, with almost all of the tracks being Jamaican best-sellers. All of these works, as well as the best of his remaining recordings from the ska, rock regular and reggae eras, are presented in the latest collection in Trojan's new 'Essential Artist Collection' series. Released physically as a 2CD compilation of 50 tracks, including extensive liner notes and images, the set pays tribute to the original king of reggae and superbly demonstrates the immense talent that set Desmond Dekker apart from his peers during the golden age of Jamaican music.TRACKLISTING Includes the hits: "Israelites", "007", "It Mek", "Pickney Gal", "You Can Get It If You Really Want", "Sing A Little Song", "Young Generation", "Live & Learn", "Mother Pepper"...
