"Spirit" was recorded from April to August 2016 at Sound Design in Santa Barbara, California, and Jungle City in New York, with producer James Ford for the first time. Released on March 17, 2017, it is Depeche Mode's last studio album to feature founding member and keyboardist Andy Fletcher before his passing on May 26, 2022.
