"Songs of Faith and Devotion" is the 8th studio album by the English group Depeche Mode, released in 1993. Produced by Flood and Depeche Mode, this album follows "Violator," which represents the artistic and commercial peak of the group. "Songs of Faith and Devotion" enjoys an equally enviable success by reaching the top of the American and British charts upon its release, while the group was moving towards different sound explorations (gospel, acoustic instruments, philharmonic arrangements...) but also towards a more rock sound during a period marked by grunge music and movement that did not leave the group members indifferent, including Dave Gahan.
