Delta Spirit Returns After 6-Year Hiatus
Delta Spirit is set to make a comeback with their first album in six years, "What Is There." The album was self-produced by the band and then mixed by Tchad Blake (U2, Black Keys). It follows "Into The Wide," their critically acclaimed 2014 studio album that garnered significant international success. "What Is There" is dedicated to the memory of Richard Swift, a close friend and major musical inspiration for the band. Formed in Southern California in 2005, Delta Spirit took a long break after touring their last studio album. "By 2015, we had reached the point where we were like family," confesses frontman Matthew Logan Vasquez. "Which means sometimes we couldn't stand each other. Our paths were slowly diverging. And when we took that break and the band went on hiatus, that's when our friendship had the opportunity to re-emerge." Delta Spirit isn't just returning; they're taking a significant leap forward with "What Is There," an album conceived and recorded at an unprecedented stage in the band's career, imbued with a new maturity gained through experience and nourished by both the break and the reunion. Vasquez confirms, "I'm really proud of our discography, and even more proud of where we are today. I have a lot of hope for us. I'm very grateful to have these four guys with me. There's a strong dose of raw honesty in this music. It's a record for today, not a nostalgia trip."
