Description

What direction do you take when you're a legendary band, you've heard all the praise you could possibly hear, and been acclaimed by all your peers? Why not rent abandoned offices in the middle of the New Mexico desert instead of a studio, set up shop with no preconceived notions of what you're going to do there, plug in the gear, and play as loud as possible? That's what the four members of Deerhoof did to record their new album and boom!, after seven days, The Magic was there: a raw and refreshing rock album that hits you hard, where they once again leave their comfort zone and find... a pineapple. In The Magic, Deerhoof gives birth to an alchemical dream where original punk, pop, glam, doo-wop, hip hop, and r'n'b coexist, along with late-night car rides and endless days, spandex, angst, and impertinence. Poetry made into noise, in a way, with volume knobs cranked up for pleasure, friendship made into a rock band.
