The legend of Death Hymn Number 9 begins in the early 60s when Marvin Gaye abandoned the musicians from his very first national tour at a gas station in Louisiana. The members were then attacked by zombies and left for dead. About forty years later, the band (themselves zombified, of course) reappeared in L.A. Since their "return," they have formed Death Hymn Number 9 and play what they call gospel/power/violent music, their faces painted white and covered in (fake?) blood. *3rd Degree Moon Burns*, the band's second album, is The Cramps battling Doo Rag, a spasmodic album of moribund garage rock, even more terrifying and original than their origin story.
