Originating from New Zealand, the band Dead Finks returns with a fourth album that remains true to its characteristic blend of hysterical cynicism and fierce sincerity. The band began to gain recognition in 2021 when the music video for their single “(My Human) Extinction” premiered on the influential Harakiri Diät channel, becoming a modest success in underground punk circles. They attracted further attention after being selected by Detroit post-punk stalwarts Protomartyr to open for several dates on their 2022 European tour, and then opened for Dry Cleaning throughout the European leg of their 2023 world tour. The propulsive, often abrasive sound of their previous albums has now been somewhat softened by shimmering guitars, hyper-melodic vocal lines, and an increased emphasis on clarity and dynamics, thus incorporating classic pop composition, shoegaze textures, and avant-garde music into their repertoire.
