Acting as a key player in the German Electronic scene, De-Phazz delivers its 13th studio album. All while celebrating its 25th anniversary!
Although originally from Heidelberg, the group flirts with a Latin rhythm as sunny as it is languorous, accompanied by some solo artists' voices with a sybaritic timbre, some of whom are just passing through, evoking the oppressive tropical heat of exotic countries and why not the memory of having made your taste buds dance with a sparkling French drink, in a summer café next to a dusty gramophone, eyes fixed on the slow movements of a ceiling fan's blades. The swaying tracks of De-Phazz activate all these clichés.
The importance of De-Phazz in entertainment electronic music since the turn of the millennium is undeniable. Anyone sipping a cocktail in a lounge in Berlin, Miami, or Ibiza since 1997 knows the Heidelberg group.
Pit Baumgartner, the creative head of De-Phazz, presents his magnum opus "Pit Sounds," which combines different sounds in an unconventional way. Baumgartner describes his working method as the creative exploitation of a huge collection of sounds to rediscover precious acoustic metal and bring it into a new context.
Even though it is of course a pure expression of self-irony, the album certainly withstands the ironic comparison with the Beach Boys classic "Pet Sounds." Warm 60s choruses meet chic jazz guitar riffs, retro syrupy strings à la Bert Kaempfert, singing cowboys, standard Latin American dances, snippets of multilingual languages, and even football horns.
