David Hillyard & The Rocksteady 7 are back with their first single since their 2018 album, The Giver. This new 45, "The Frog," a reinterpretation by Hillyard of João Donato's "A Rã," is a preview of their upcoming album, Plague Doctor, due this summer. Like the album, this single blends The Rocksteady 7's characteristic sound, combining American jazz and Jamaican influences, with classic Brazilian rhythms and themes. The Rocksteady 7 brings together some of the best musicians from today's ska/reggae scene, including members of the New York band The Slackers and percussionist Larry McDonald (Toots & The Maytals, Gil Scott-Heron, Lee "Scratch" Perry). "The Frog" is pressed on green vinyl, with the full track split across two sides.
