Considered the most clever compilation of David Bowie's songs to date, the box set "Sound + Vision" was first released in November 1989 on the modest Canadian label Rykodisc, whose reissue work of Frank Zappa's records had impressed the one who was no longer, at the time, just the singer of Tin Machine. Unavailable since 1996, the year EMI acquired the exploitation rights to the artist's back catalog, "Sound + Vision" (named after a song from "Low," performed during the "A Reality" tour) now brings together 67 tracks. All eras of the rock chameleon's career are covered, from "Space Oddity," represented here by its 1969 acoustic demo, to "The Buddha Of Suburbia" (a little-known soundtrack released in 1993 that the artist particularly cherishes), and "Sound + Vision" can be explored like a museum showcasing now-classic songs as well as rare gems intended to delight Bowie fans (the single version of "The Prettiest Star" released in 1970, featuring Marc Bolan on guitar, 1984/ Dodo, the legendary medley recorded in 1973, or "After Today" from the "Young Americans" sessions, two years later).
