David Bowie performed at the Arènes de Fréjus (France) on May 27, 1983, as part of the Serious Moonlight Tour. It was the ninth concert of this tour, which began on May 18 in Brussels. Bowie was accompanied by guitarists Carlos Alomar and Earl Slick. Dave Lebolt played keyboards and synthesizers. Saxophonists Steve Elson, Stan Harrison, and Lenny Pickett completed the brass section. Carmine Rojas held the bass, while Tony Thompson handled the drums and percussion. The backing vocals were performed by George and Frank Simms. This concert brought together several leading musicians who participated in one of Bowie's most famous tours in the 1980s. The event marked the artist's appearance on the Côte d'Azur in front of the French audience. Bowie also returned to perform at the Arènes de Fréjus on August 13, 1990, during the Sound+Vision Tour. This return, seven years later, confirms the importance of this venue in the history of his concerts in France.
