Parlophone Records is proud to announce the release of the 4-CD/blu-ray box set DAVID BOWIE DIVINE SYMMETRY. This box set traces the twelve months leading up to the release of the album HUNKY DORY in December 1971 through demos, BBC sessions, and live and studio recordings. DAVID BOWIE DIVINE SYMMETRY contains 48 tracks and unreleased demos from this period and new alternative mixes of tracks from HUNKY DORY made by Ken Scott, the co-producer of the original album. Two books accompany DIVINE SYMMETRY, with a 100-page hardcover collection including memorabilia and exclusive photos and a 60-page replica of David Bowie's notebook featuring handwritten lyrics, costume sketches, recording notes, and setlists. The booklet was written by Tris Penna, a David Bowie specialist, with contributions from HUNKY DORY co-producer Ken Scott, his longtime friends Geoff MacCormack and George Underwood, singer Dana Gillespie, guitarist Mark Pritchett, Friars Aylesbury promoter David Stopps, editor Bob Grace, and photographer Louanne Richards. 1971 was a key year for David Bowie. He had just signed a recording contract with RCA, met Andy Warhol, Lou Reed, and Iggy Pop in New York, had a son, and wrote the song 'KOOKS' to assert his paternal pride, performed for the first time in June with Mick Ronson, Woody Woodmansey, and Trevor Bolder, the band that would soon be named The Spiders From Mars, and recorded the essential HUNKY DORY. 'KOOKS', recorded by David Bowie and guitarist Mick Ronson for the BBC show Sounds Of The 70s hosted by Bob Harris, is available for download and streaming. This version was recorded in London, at Kensington House, Shepherds Bush at BBC Studio T1 on September 21, 1971, and was broadcast on October 4, 1971.
