Description
'WHO CAN I BE NOW? (1974 - 1976)', the second volume in a series of box sets tracing DAVID BOWIE’s career since 1969. The successor to 'FIVE YEARS (1969 - 1973)', an award-winning box set acclaimed by critics, will be available on September 23 and will feature the unreleased album 'THE GOUSTER' recorded in 1974. Available in 12-CD, 13-vinyl and digital versions, 'WHO CAN I BE NOW? (1974 - 1976)' includes all the official titles released by Bowie between 1974 and 1976 during his “American” period. All of these titles have been newly remastered. Included are the albums 'DIAMOND DOGS', 'DAVID LIVE' (original mix and 2005 mix), 'YOUNG AMERICANS' and 'STATION TO STATION' (original mix and 2010 mix), as well as 'THE GOUSTER', 'LIVE NASSAU COLISEUM 76' and a new compilation titled 'RE:CALL 2' bringing together singles and non-album B-sides, including the original single mix of 'Rebel Rebel' only available since its 1974 release on the 40th anniversary picture disc released in 2014 and an edit version of 'Diamond Dogs', previously only released on CD single in Australia. The single edit of the live version of 'Rock 'n' Roll With Me', distributed to American radio stations during the promotion of 'DAVID LIVE', is also available on CD for the first time. The unreleased album 'THE GOUSTER' is available exclusively in this box set. This album produced by Tony Visconti was recorded at Sigma Sound studio in Philadelphia in 1974. The record had been mixed and mastered on the eve of Bowie’s departure for New York, where he worked with John Lennon and Harry Maslin on the album that would become 'YOUNG AMERICANS'. 'THE GOUSTER' contains three unreleased mixes of 'Right', 'Can You Hear Me' and 'Somebody Up There Likes Me'. Tony Visconti supervised the new mastering of this box set from the original tapes and Eric Stephen Jacobs’ photos were chosen to illustrate the cover based on an artwork idea imagined at the time by David Bowie. The vinyl box set has the same content as the CD and has been pressed on audiophile 180-gram vinyl.
