David Allred, a composer and producer based in Portland, presents his new album The Beautiful World, a deeply personal work dedicated to existential themes such as death, grief, desire, and loss. Centered around the suicide of Lauren, a young girl close to Allred's family, this album marks a turning point in his career. Unlike his previous works, The Beautiful World is rooted in Allred's reality and personal relationships. Through correspondence with Robert Raths, the director of the Erased Tapes label, Allred was able to clarify the central theme of the album: loss. The album, which includes 11 tracks, is built around the song Oh Lauren, reflecting how grief persists throughout life. With ambient textures, drones, and introspective ballads, the album invites listeners into a meditative space, influenced by artists such as Arthur Russell, Daniel Johnston, and Robert Ashley.
