INFRA RED

Description

American vibraphonist Dave Pike may not be as well known as his contemporaries Gary Burton and Bobby Hutcherson, but recordings with Bill Evans, Herbie Mann and Paul Bley attest to Pike’s pedigree. His MPS albums from 1969 to the early 70s have become classics in the jazz world. Based on funk and fusion, Infra-Red ventures into country rock. A remarkable album that demonstrates Pike’s status on the European and international jazz scene. With its iconic cover, this 1970 album has long been a collector’s item and is now once again accessible to everyone. On this album, Dave Pike is joined by a top-notch group. The great German guitarist Volker Kriegel is Pike’s perfect counterpart, while Viennese bassist J.A. Rettenbacher and drummer Peter Baumeister complete the musical spectrum. A very special album not only for the fusion and vibraphone scene, but for jazz as a whole. Liner notes by jazz pianist Christoph Spender, who took part in the New Dave Pike set.
