In 1959, at the height of the emerging stereo era, this surprising album by a classically trained pianist (he studied with Darius Milhaud) would play a major role in bringing jazz to the general public. It contains two standout tracks: Blue Rondo a la Turk, inspired by a piano sonata by Mozart, and Take Five, a very catchy theme that would go around the world, composed by saxophonist Paul Desmond. Be warned: this seemingly restrained jazz hides work on rhythms that proves highly impressive. Excerpt from the guide "La Discothèque idéale Fnac" 2016
