Grand Hôtel Apocalypse (which follows Endorphine, released in 2017) is an album of eleven songs composed and recorded entirely alone in his studio over a relatively short period, except for the drums, which were played and recorded in Los Angeles by Norm Block (The Afghan Whigs, Warpaint...), a Californian rock drummer met there. Grand Hôtel Apocalypse is a sort of return to basics in the form of a "power trio" (one guitar, one bass, one drum) with the guiding principle: "No pedal"! The instruments are plugged directly into the amplifiers, without any artifice, without any overdubs. Everything on this album is very personal. Even the most fictional lyrics contain a significant amount of autobiography. It is his long-time collaborator, Pierre-Yves Lebert, who has put all his writing talent to work on these little pieces of life that are so close to him. Assisted in his task by the radical choices made during the recording, he also mixed this album with the idea of creating a striking and incisive object with the greatest possible sonic unity. Ultimately, Grand Hôtel Apocalypse is an album that will be easy to bring to the stage because it was conceived from the start as a recorded concert, right down to the order in which the songs unfold.
