Piano quartets

Description

Daniel Hope enhances the chamber music of Brahms, Schumann, and Mahler. Daniel Hope makes his first chamber music recording with Deutsche Grammophon. The program includes Brahms, Schumann, and an early work by Mahler. For the famous violinist, chamber music is the endless refinement of an invisible sound sculpture, a continuous work on interpretation. Daniel Hope persuaded cellist David Finckel (who was part of the Emerson Quartet for decades) and pianist Wu Han, co-directors of the chamber music society at Lincoln Center, as well as violist Paul Neubauer to join him for this recording. It resulted in a journey that takes us to the edges of the piano quartets of Schumann, Brahms, and Mahler.
