Escape to paradise: the hollywood album
Description
Daniel Hope explores music Made in Hollywood from Korngold to Cinema Paradiso. After examining works banned by the Third Reich and composers exterminated by the Nazis, Daniel Hope traces the musicians who managed to flee to the United States. Exile is a subject he knows well, as his grandparents fled Nazism by taking refuge in South Africa and his parents left South Africa for England to escape Apartheid. The anchor point of the album is Korngold's Violin Concerto, which Daniel Hope discovered in the interpretation of the "king of violinists" Jascha Heifetz, who himself had emigrated to the United States. In this recording, the violinist naturally does not overlook great cinema classics like Schindler's List or Cinema Paradiso. It also features the singer with his own version of Hanns Eisler's lied The Secret Marriage, as well as Max Raabe on Kurt Weill's Speak Low. The escape to Paradise is a fascinating sonic and historical journey in widescreen format.Buy Escape to paradise: the hollywood album at the best price
