Recorded in west London with renowned producer Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams), and in collaboration with Dave Archer (guitar) and Will Cleasby (drums), the album delivers a fuller, more dynamic sound. From the melancholic, bluesy intro “No Man''s Land” to the upbeat pop-funk narrative of “Pentonville Prison” and the unifying anthem “Traffic Jam”, Sweet Chaos explores themes of love, loss, frustration and release. Standout tracks include “Leech”, a sharp indie-rock critique of media intrusion, the poignant and intimate “Question Mark”, and the electrifying closing track “Fix Me Up”, featuring Alison Mosshart of The Kills. Written in the years following a profound personal loss, Sweet Chaos marks a break from the tenderness of Lewis’s first album, giving way to music that is more urgent, restless and at times provocative. There is anger here, but also warmth, humor and moments of hope, notably in tracks like the dynamic “Advent” and the expansive, introspective “King”.
