Description

Amsterdam natives Maarten Smeets and Lars Dales, aka Dam Swindle, unveil their third full-length via Heist Recordings. The new album sees the acclaimed duo dive far beyond the deep sonic waters for which they are best known, exploring lower tempos, synth-wave, hip-house and ambient across fourteen tracks. With a gestation period stretching back several years, Open is their most intimate and personal work to date, born during a period of introspection away from touring and personal transformation as individuals. Under the guidance of Maarten and Lars, expert A&R, their label Heist has become a beloved home for house leaders from both the old and new schools, featuring some of the biggest names in dance music, from Cinthie to DJ Sneak, as well as the musical debuts of artists such as Kassian and Makèz. The Dam Swindle alias has reached king-of-house status over a 15-year career that includes two critically acclaimed albums, collaborations with artists like Tom Misch and Kerri Chandler, and a touring schedule spanning the globe.
