Experimental hip-hop legends, dälek, are back with their new album, Brilliance of a Falling Moon. Taking its name from a passage in Erik Larson's 2011 novel In the Garden of Beasts, the album paints a stark portrait of life and resistance in Fascist America. Conceived, written, and produced by Will Brooks (aka MC dälek) and Mike Mare, Brilliance of a Falling Moon is an ambitious and uncompromising album that resonates with the current political climate. Recorded at the band's Deadverse Studios between 2024 and 2025, Brilliance of a Falling Moon features powerful rhythms driven by brutal and incisive drum breaks, bathed in an unsettling and otherworldly atmosphere. Tackling everything from state censorship to colonialism to Trump's demonization of immigrants, Brooks' lyrics express visceral outrage at the current state of the world. dälek has already been announced for the Roadburn Festival (Netherlands) and La Route du Rock (France), and plans a European tour in spring 2026, followed by a US tour. dälek debuted in 1998 with Negro Necro Nekros, a true sonic tour de force built around thunderous drums, soaring ambient passages, and incisive, profound lyrics. With landmark albums such as From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots (2002), Absence (2005), Abandoned Language (2007), and Gutter Tactics (2009), dälek laid the groundwork for a rap with unprecedented textures and structures.
