Arghiledes

Description

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, David Charles Shuford is the driving force behind Speer. After relocating to New York in the early 90s, Shuford built a strong reputation as a musician, mastering multiple sounds and styles. A member of the No Neck Blues Band for 15 years, he also lent his mind and fingers to other groups such as Enos Slaughter, The Suntanama, Egypt Is The Magick #, and Coach Fingers. Through a regular series of home recordings, Speer's career began to take shape in the early 2000s. Assembling masses of vibrating wood was necessary to fulfill the obligations of a one-man band. The complete instrumental ensemble of an oriental dance troupe and a selection of voices from a Cajun band were thus merged to create an incredibly lively sound. After a self-produced solo debut album, 'Some Forgotten Country,' in 2007, Speer then sought an outlet to perform publicly with the country's hottest band, The Helix. His second solo LP 'Arghiledes' returns to acoustic instrumentation, with an always healthy dose of electric effects and speaker frying.
