Many people around the world think they know Cyrille Aimée: the incomparable songstress, steeped in the jazz tradition she learned from the Gypsy masters of her native France. It’s a story that has been told many times over the course of Cyrille's career, as it took her on a magical journey from France to New York, and then to New Orleans, pursuing her musical vision through the works of some of the world’s greatest popular songwriters. Now, she is back with a new album and a new story to tell. “A Fleur de Peau” presents Cyrille in her own words, her own original compositions presented in her own arrangements, developed in close collaboration with NYC multi-instrumentalist/producer, Jake Sherman. They worked through ideas that flowed deep from Cyrille's heart, creating music that is the most original and personal of her career. Drawing from her Dominican origins, with its African dance rhythms and Spanish folk songs, embracing the simplicity of contemporary pop forms, singing narratives drawn from her own life, this is Cyrille as you’ve never heard her before.
