Cymbals’ long-awaited new album is named after a book by writer Daniel T. Rodgers, a Princeton academic. The book deals with the fragmentation of ideas at the end of the last century and the loss of collective meaning. Jack Cleverly, the band’s singer and guitarist, writes about it: “I often feel paralyzed by the feeling that everything is too complicated, and many people around me feel the same way. I realized that this thought is reflected in these songs.” The Age of Fracture is produced by Dreamtrak (Swim Deep, Chad Valley, Hot Chip) in his Hackney studio and was written collectively over the past 12 months. The band took the time to carefully build this album song by song, sequence by sequence. Daniel Rejmer (Foals, Everything Everything) then handled the final mix. The result shows the band’s attention to detail, with a clear and bright sound.
