CRIOLO RETURNS TO HIS ROOTS WITH A PURE HIP HOP ALBUM: "AINDA HÀ TEMPO" In 2006, Kleber Gomes aka Criolo released his first studio album Ainda Há Tempo and the 500 copies produced were quickly sold out. Even though he had already been writing, rapping, and, among other things, organizing hip hop events on the São Paulo scene for almost 20 years (he wrote his first rap at just 11 years old!), this was his first album. It turned out to be a calling card announcing what has become one of the most successful careers in the extremely rich musical vein that is Brazilian hip-hop. Since then, Criolo, a rapper known for the eloquence of his social critique, has won more than 15 awards, given hundreds of concerts in Brazil, and released his albums worldwide. A complete artist, he has also acted in several feature films and sung alongside Caetano Veloso and Milton Nascimento. Ainda Hà Tempo ("There is still time") has always held a special place as a pure hip hop album. Thus, 10 years later in 2016, Criolo and his musical director Daniel Ganjaman found themselves in the studio to record new versions of the songs that had launched him in the first place. A true return to his roots.
