Description

Bounds, the new work by Craven Faults, is a 37-minute musical journey that follows their second album Standers and extends the exploration begun with Enclosures in 2020. Inspired by the landscapes of northern England, the album blends electronic influences, particularly the repetitive and rigorous rhythms from the Düsseldorf and Köln scenes of 1971, with an immersive and evocative atmosphere. The sonic journey starts with a repetitive motif that builds in intensity, reminiscent of krautrock production techniques. Melodies emerge but gradually fade away, giving way to dissonant notes. The album takes detours into slower, more emotional soundscapes, with passages that evoke travels to Hamburg and Rome between February and April 1972. The musical structure evolves towards less rigor while maintaining a marked emotional depth. This work stands out for its meticulous approach to repetition and detail, where each sound invites contemplation of a space without defined boundaries, both geographical and musical.
