Cradle was a Detroit rock band active in the late 60s and early 70s, evolving from The Pleasure Seekers, a pioneering all-female band led by the Quatro sisters. With Nancy Rogers joining on drums, the band's sound became heavier, giving birth to Cradle. Their music blended raw and precise instrumentation with powerful vocals, ranging from a Janis Joplin-esque rasp to Robert Plant-like soaring melodies, creating committed and incisive hard rock. On stage, they shared billing with several major rock figures of the era, establishing themselves in Detroit's tough music scene. Despite their talent, Cradle faced music industry barriers and disbanded in 1973. Today, their legacy is recognized as a vital milestone, having paved the way for women in heavy rock. The Ancient Grease Records label is reissuing their music in a remastered version, accompanied by detailed visuals and notes, bringing this forgotten page of 70s rock back to life.
