BASIE IN LONDON

Description

An excellent concert by The Basie band, recorded LIVE during the summer of 1956 in Göteborg, Sweden. The rhythm section, with the great Freddie Green, Eddie Jones and Sonny Payne, is the ultimate foundation of the group and, of course, the key man here is "The Count" himself. All the musicians are at the top of their game, the crowd is fanatical and the band gives them all its enthusiasm in return. Here is the Basie band at its best! With Joe Williams, the band backs the deep-throated, learned singer on a striking selection of "Alright, Okay, You Win", the fast "Roll 'Em Pete" and "The Comeback". This is Count Basie's big band in a classic period, playing many well-known, enduring and beloved tunes that everyone will recognize.
